Imiquimod is a medicine in the form of a cream that stimulates the immune system to fight an array of viral infections. Use of imiquimod for warts treatment is effective because the cause of warts is the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).

HPV

The human papilloma virus has over a hundred different strains many of which do not carry any obvious symptoms. However particular forms of the virus can cause warts to appear. Different types of HPV can produce different types of warts in different areas of the body.

Imiquimod for warts

The immunotherapy medicine is one of the most effective methods of treatment against external genital and perennial warts. These warts, as the name suggests can be found around the genitalia and entry to the anal passage on both men and women.

Warts of this nature can be spread through skin contact with an infected person. The most common reason for this to happen is sexual intercourse. Whilst the virus is most infectious when the lesions are present, it can also be contracted when there are no visible symptoms.

Imiquimod for warts treatment works to communicate through the body’s immune system to activate cells into proteins called cytokines. These proteins are the body’s natural defense against viral infections.

In some cases, physicians who have performed other methods of wart removal may opt to use imiquimod afterwards. This is due to the fact that the cream is able to treat warts that are not visible to the naked eye.

Restrictions

Because of the nature of the cream and its side-effects which include:

Irritation of the skin

Burning sensation

Blistering

Inflammation

Headaches

Diarrhea

Muscle aches

Flu symptoms

Not everybody is suitable for the treatment. In particular, those who suffer from dermatitis, pregnant women and children under the age of twelve would not be prescribed the cream.

For those who are suitable candidates, careful self-application of the cream is required.

The affected area and hands must be cleansed thoroughly and completely dry before application.

A small amount of cream is applied directly to the warts, being careful to avoid contact with any surrounding healthy skin.

The cream is massaged into the area until it is absorbed completely.

The cream is left for eight hours before being washed off.

Application should be repeated three times a week on alternating days for a maximum of 16 weeks until the warts have disappeared.

Sexual intercourse must not take place whilst the cream is on and users must make sure the area is washed thoroughly before sex.

What to Expect From the Treatment

If the treatment is successful, patients will experience slight inflammation in the area. The skin will start to flake and warts will become visibly smaller, diminishing completely over time the weeks of use. These are all signals that the medicine is taking effect and are not cause for concern.

However, severe inflammation or oozing from the lesions is not normal. In this case, patients stop using the treatment immediately and contact a physician straight away.

Imiquimod is known to be one of the most successful genital and perennial wart treatments to date with 50% of cases gleaming positive results.

Venereal warts, more commonly known as genital warts, are skin lesions that present themselves in and around the genitalia of men and women. The warts are caused by a viral infection known as the Human Papilloma Virus. Although there are over one hundred strains of this virus, with 40 of them thought to be responsible for genital warts, 90% of these cases are brought about via strains six and eleven.

HPV

As a result of the many different strains of the virus, infections are extremely widespread. In most cases, the infection presents no symptoms and most people who have the infection may never know it. Alternatively, some strains can lead to the development of warts and in particularly aggressive tracts; these may progress into cervical cancer, although this is relatively rare.

What do the Warts Look Like?

Warts in and around the genital area are not like the common warts that can often be found on the rest of the body. These particular warts are soft, squidgy and light in color. Generally speaking they are small in size, though at first glance they may appear larger due to the fact that they present themselves in clusters or groups. In some cases, these clusters may converge into one large lesion or wart. Lesions may be raised or flat, rough or smooth. This has no relation to the strain of virus causing the infection nor does it affect any treatment that may be carried out.

In the majority cases where the warts appear, there is no pain although some may experience soreness or irritation around the area. Women may experience a burning sensation when urinating.

How the Warts are Spread

Men and women contract the virus when it is transferred from skin to skin through contact. The main reason for such contact is sexual intercourse (although there are exceptions). In fact, HPV is thought to be the most widely spread sexually transmitted infection across America with an estimated 75% of all sexually active people having some form of the infection.

The virus is more likely to be passed between people when the lesions are present and open. Yet some people may be asymptomatic, meaning that would show no symptoms such as warts and still be able to pass on the infection.

Treatments

Venereal warts are able to be treated in a variety of ways.

Cryotherapy is used to freeze the warts with liquid nitrogen.

Imiquimod cream can be applied by the patient directly onto the warts in the same way that podofilox gel can be. Repeated use of the gel/cream serves to diminish the warts.

Podophyllin resin must be applied by physicians and washed off weekly.

Due to the fact that the virus is so widespread, vaccinations are administered to prevent the more aggressive strains such as HPV 6, HPV 11 HPV 16 and HPV 18. A vaccination for these is given to males and females between the ages of 9 and 26.

In an effort to minimize risk of cervical cancer derived from genital warts, a vaccination called Cervarix is used for girls between the ages of 10 and 15. This particular vaccine concentrates in protecting against strains 16 and 18.

There are over 100 strains of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) causing various different types of infections leading to warts all over the body and in more extreme cases, cancer. After research was carried out on the various strains of the virus which lead to cervical cancer, namely HPV 16 and HPV18, a vaccination has been developed and is administered to women and girls between the ages of 9 and 26.

Treatment for Low Risk HPV

HPV is known to cause a variety of different warts in different areas of the body. Common and plantar warts can be found on the face, neck, hands, feet and legs. However genital warts are found on areas such as the vagina, vulva, anus, cervix and scrotum.

These types of HPV infections are low risk but can be embarrassing for many people. It is possible to receive medication or other treatments for this kind of lesion but again, many people may prefer not to speak to the doctor about such things or be seen buying creams and ointments. Not to mention the fact that the virus is capable of returning after treatment, so money spent on creams and such could be viewed as an expensive means to an end.

Natural remedies for all types of warts include:

Milkweed sap being applied gently to the affected area. Some people choose to mix the sap with some sort of vitamin E cream as the sap alone can cause some discomfort when applied. This treatment should be repeated daily for approximately a week.

Rubbing apple and cider vinegar is heralded to be an extremely effective HPV wart treatment. Although it is equally known to be painful in its administration.

It is said that covering plantar warts with duct tape and leaving them covered for a week or two is also a popular choice of home remedy for these kinds of HPV Warts.

For genital warts some people swear that sitting in a bath of warm water (without anything added to it) reduces the effects of the problem.

As well as these natural remedies, and possibly more important, a healthy diet is highly recommended. Eating a good nutritional diet full of vitamins and minerals will increase the efficiency of the immune system and in turn, decrease the risk of contracting a HPV infection.

More remedies here: http://wartsguide.com/wart-removal-home-remedies

Shop Bought Products

There are a number of wart removal products available over the counter which claim to illuminate warts painlessly and without fuss. The likes of “Dermatend” and other such creams claim to work at the root of the wart. In most cases, the wart will scab over and be gone in a day or 2 after application. Removal of warts in such a way does not guarantee that they will not come back again but this method is often chosen by people who want to see quick results rather than waiting months to years for the warts to dissipate naturally on their own.

Surgery

If no relief can be found by natural remedies or shop-bought products, a consultation with a doctor about the available wart removal surgeries may be in order. Surgical HPV treatment can include:

Cryotherapy – The wart is frozen in extreme temperatures using liquid nitrogen. Requires more than one treatment. Eventually the wart will blister over and fall off of its own accord.

Cantharidin – Blisters the wart so it can be removed from the skin.

Laser surgery – Lasers burn the layers of the wart, destroying it.

Although these treatments can be extremely effective, they really are a last resort with laser surgery being an extreme measure for the treatment of HPV warts. All 3 surgeries can be painful and offer no guarantee that warts won’t return.

The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is an infection with over 100 strains that enters the body through openings in the skin. Once beneath the surface of the skin, it infects cells which live in the mucus membrane. The effects of the infection vary from common warts which are low risk to various different cancers.

Symptoms

HPV Virus does not necessarily show symptoms. People can often carry the virus unwittingly for years without displaying any obvious signs of infection.

For those who experience symptoms they can come in the form of the following:

Common warts- lumps on the skin’s surface with rough touch to them. Commonly found around the nails as well as on the face, knees and fingers

Flat warts – small smooth lumps showing around the face, legs and backs of hands. These show themselves in small groups.

Plantar warts – Either small rough feeling bumps in the skin or a thickness of skin. At times there may appear to black spots in the center. These are commonly found on the soles of the feet and palms of hands.

Filiform warts – long thin lumps around the eyes and neck

Genital warts – small irregular shaped lesions found on the genitals (vagina, vulva, penis, scrotum, anus)

Cervical dysplasia – Unnatural cells. Not able to be seen under normal circumstances, Pap smear will tell of their presence.

Risks of HPV infection

The majority of these symptoms is low risk and disappears over time without any treatment. Common, flat and filiform warts are all normally painless. Plantar warts can cause mild to moderate discomfort as they are often found on the soles of the feet and as such the pressure of walking can cause pain.

Genital warts are also painless though they can sometimes excrete fluid and are often embarrassing for people to admit to having. Having said this, the particular strain of HPV causing genital warts is extremely contagious. So much so that it was one of the most common sexually transmitted infections. The infection is passed on through sexual contact with a host of the virus.

Cervical dysplasia is the name for infected cells found in the cervix. These are not cancerous cells but do carry the risk of becoming cancerous if left without treatment. The particular strains of HPV virus which cause cervical dysplasia are known to cause cervical cancer and have also been linked to other cancers including penile and anal cancer.

Are Certain People More Vulnerable?

Most strains of the virus can affect people of all ages. This is true of common and plantar warts yet children are more likely to suffer with them. This could be in relation to the fact that HPV is more effective in a body with a depleted immune system which some children may not have fully developed at the time of contracting the warts.

This also means that the virus is free to attack those who have HIV/AIDS or anyone who is on medicine which subdues the immune system in any way.

Obviously Genital warts are more likely to occur in those which are sexually active, and whilst it is possible to contract the virus from lesions, it is possible to become infected when even if neither party shows any symptoms. Also, mothers with the infection may pass the virus onto their children at birth.

“Mosaic warts” is the name given to a group or cluster of plantar warts. These particular warts can be found anywhere on the body but are most common on the soles of the feet and sometimes the palms of the hands.

The warts can present themselves as small lumps with a rough surface or an area of thicker skin like a callus. There is often some skin discoloration, with the warts being a brown/gray color. On occasion, black spots can be seen near the center of the warts, these are blocked blood vessels. In most cases the warts will dissipate of their own accord over time – perhaps a couple of years. Yet because some people experience pain with mosaic warts, multiplied when pressure is put on the area by walking, they often look at different treatments to remove them sooner.

Causes

Mosaic warts are caused by a particular strain of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). As the virus flourishes in warm, moist places and is able to live on wet surfaces such as the floor of a shower for months without inhabiting a living organism.

The virus normally infects a person through an opening in the skin, such as a cut or crack. For this reason, people who have cracks on the soles of their feet and go barefoot in public showers or by the side of swimming pools are at higher risk of coming into contact with the virus and allowing it to infect the soles of their feet.

The virus is contagious so it is able to pass between people and spread to other parts of the body. Though the chances of obtaining warts from other people are relatively low, people with impaired immune systems are at higher risk. Thus, carriers of HIV/AIDS may be prone to incurring plantar or mosaic warts, as are those who take medicines which obstruct the immune system from carrying out its duties as normal.

Prevention

As the virus is found on wet surfaces, wearing footwear around public showers and swimming pools is often the best form of prevention against the virus. Also if a person knows that they suffer from dry skin lending the soles of their feet to cracking, or if a person is aware of any cuts about their body, covering them up whilst swimming would act as a barrier to the virus. Also sharing shoes, towels etc. cuts down on the risk of cross contamination.

Treatment

Whilst many people are able to wait until the warts naturally subside, some experience pain with the warts. If the warts are on the soles of the feet, walking can often induce a reasonable amount of discomfort to warrant them seeking advice on how to be rid of the verruca’s as plantar warts are sometimes known.

Often people choose to buy over the counter products to be rid of the warts. Whilst these can be quite effective, the user must take care when applying any creams as they might irritate healthy skin. Moreover, care must be taken not to transfer the virus from a wart to another abrasion on the skin.

You will generally have three choices of treatment: home remedies for warts, over-the-counter products and surgery. Wart removal home remedies are both free and painless; they have also a proven track record of success in removing numerous types of warts without ever needed to seek further help. In this article we will discuss the most effective natural remedies that has already helped many people to get rid of warts.

Warts are a problem that many people encounter in life; they are caused by a virus known as HPV or human papillomavirus. This virus affects the epidermis (top layer of skin) and causes a growth which is the wart. There are over 100 different strains of the HPV virus resulting in several different types of wart. Human papillomavirus is a very contagious condition and can affect people of all ages, in many cases the virus will pass without a person ever knowing they had it, in fact, warts are the only telling sign that a virus is present. While warts are generally benign, the irritation and embarrassment that they can cause means treatment is often necessary.

Duct Tape Treatment

The duct tape treatment is one of the most popular home remedies and has proven to be successful on many occasions. The method is simple; the wart is wrapped tightly is duct tape for 24 hours a day until it disappears. The tape should be changed daily and should not be wrapped too tightly so as to cut off blood circulation. This method can also be done using Band-Aids, packing tape or scotch tape.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste is also a handy method to use and by taking a generous amount of paste and applying it to the wart. A Band-Aid is then used to cover the wart. Carrying out this process on a daily basis will eventually dissolve the wart.

Apple Cider Vinegar

The use of apple cider vinegar is excellent for many skin problems; it is also helpful for the removal of numerous types of warts. Many people also have a bottle of this vinegar sitting a kitchen cupboard which saves on expense. To apply this method, a ball of cotton wool should be saturated in the vinegar and applied to the wart, using tape or a Band-Aid to hold in place, the cotton is left in place for a number of hours and then removed. This process is best done before going to bed and removed on a morning, repeating these steps over a number of nights will help to get rid of a wart.

Aspirin

The use of aspirin is also popular in wart removal home remedies and like other, methods is simple to carry out. Aspirin can be used in two different ways; the first method is to crush the tablet and add water to create a paste which is applied directly to the skin and covered. The second method is to apply olive oil to the wart and then place a whole aspirin tablet on top and securing with Band-Aid and leaving overnight.

Aloe Vera

The gel from an aloe vera plant can be extracted and applied directly to a wart; a piece of cotton wool held in place with a Band-Aid or tape will help the gel to work. This method can be applied twice daily.

Marigolds

A marigold can be used by breaking open the leaves and applying the juice directly to the wart. This can be applied as and when required until the wart is gone.

Dandelions

Milk from a dandelion stem can be excellent in curing a wart. The milk is applied to the wart and covered with tape twice daily for desired results.

Baking Soda and Water

Warts can be soaked daily in a warm bath of baking soda; this can help to soften the wart and help the body to fight off the virus and prevent infection. Similar results can be had from the use of Epsom salt and water.

Using Fruits and Vegetables

There are various home remedies for warts that can be carried out using varieties of fruit and vegetables. Natural foods such contain excellent properties for healing skin and can be applied in very simple ways.

Potatoes

This method couldn’t be any simpler; all that is required is for a potato to be cut in half and rubbed over the wart, the juice will then begin to heal the skin. This method can be applied several times a day.

Lemons and limes

Slices of lemon and limes can be rubbed on to the wart two or three times each day. It is also possible to extract the juice from either fruit and use a brush or cotton bud to apply to the wart.

Garlic

Garlic can be used as a home remedy in different ways. The first method is to crush garlic and then use it to completely cover the wart and use a bandage or tape to secure. The second method is to cut off a slice of garlic and use it to cover the wart, once again tape is used to secure the garlic. This should be done every night before bed and removed in the morning. The third method is to rub the juice of garlic on to the wart twice daily until the wart has disappeared.

Carrots

A carrot can be grated and mixed with olive oil until a paste is formed; this paste is then applied to the wart and covered with a Band-Aid. These steps can be repeated twice daily until desired results are achieved.

Bananas

Home remedies for warts using sliced bananas have also proven to be successful for many people. A slice of banana should be cut slightly bigger than the size of the wart; it should then be placed white side down on the wart, and a Band-Aid used to secure. This procedure can be carried out daily until the wart has gone. Rubbing the wart with a fresh slice of banana is also beneficial.

Castor oil

Castor oil is very well regarded among wart home remedies and can be used two or three times daily, applied directly to the water. The oil can also be combined with baking soda and mixed into a paste which is applied to the skin and covered with a bandage; this method can be done on a daily basis, using a clean bandage each time.

Vitamin E and A oils

Both oils have excellent healing properties and can be applied and rubbed into a wart on twice daily.

Calcium Supplements

Countless people that have suffered with warts have applied rated this treatment as one of the most successful home remedies for warts. Calcium supplements can be taken daily. They may require several weeks for results to show but are excellent in reducing and then removing outbreaks of warts.

Common warts affect millions of people in the US and are not limited to a specific demographic meaning anyone can develop warts at different points in life. There are some groups that are considered more prone to warts than others, these will include:

Children and teenagers

People suffering from a weakened immune system

People that tend to bite and pick at fingernails.

The common wart usually affects the hands and fingers, although can spread to other parts of the body, they are also contagious and can be passed on to other people. The reason that these warts appear in the first place is due to a virus known as human papillomavirus (HPV).

Human Papillomavirus

HPV is a very common problem, and it is likely that most people will suffer from the virus at some point in their lives. In most cases this happens as children and passes on with no symptoms or ill effects. Children and teenagers are most at risk of the virus, and as we grow older, the body begins to develop immunity from the symptoms of HPV.

There is known to be 100 or more different strains of the HPV virus, with different types leading to different problems, the most common of those being the common wart. HPV causes a rapid growth of cells on the outer layer of skin resulting in a circular grayish brown shaped growth with a cauliflower like appearance, which is the common wart.

How do You Get Warts?

There are a number of ways that a person can develop common warts, the most probable is catching the HPV virus from another person. This could be from directly touching another person’s wart or touching something that a wart has previously been in contact with, for instance, a towel. Cuts and scrapes to the skin also leave the body at risk of the HPV virus and thus warts. Damaging the skin is a leading reason of wart problems in children.

Although the HPV virus may be present in the body, it is unlikely that you will feel any ill effects, and it can often take several months until a wart develops enough to be noticeable.

Having a wart similar to those mentioned will not pose any risk to health, although they can be irritable and embarrassing, they can also spread to other parts of the body leading to treatment being needed. There are many different kinds of treatment that can be administered to remove a wart from the skin; unfortunately, none have the ability to rid the body of the virus leaving a patient at risk of the warts returning. Treatments can also be expensive, which deters many people.

To avoid treatment be needed at all, it is best to take steps to lower the risk of catching the HPV virus in the first instance, after all, no virus no warts!

Preventing Common Warts

The best way to prevent warts developing is to avoid any contact with human papillomavirus; of course, this is not always possible. If you do catch the virus having a strong immune system will allow your body to fight of infection before warts become a problem. Keeping a strong immune system can be done easily through diet and exercise. Drinking plenty of water, eating fruit and vegetables and reducing the intake of fat, sugar and alcohol will ensure that the body’s natural defense system has the ability to fight off any virus.

Steps can also be taken to avoid the HPV virus and the common wart altogether. These will include:

Not touching warts on other people either directly or indirectly.

Not sharing items such as towels, socks, razors or gloves with other people, even if that person has no visible signs of warts.

Keeping skin dry at all times

Avoid any damage to the skin such as cuts and grazes. Where the skin is damaged, be sure to keep in clean and dry. Covering any cuts when in public places can also prove beneficial.

Warts are something that affects many people in many different ways across numerous areas of the body. One of the common areas for a wart to appear is on the neck of a person and while the growth itself may pose no direct risk to health; its location can cause irritation and embarrassment to sufferers. The common misconception about warts on neck or any other part of the body is that they are brought about through the handling of amphibians such as frogs or toads. The truth is that warts develop as the result of a virus known as human papillomavirus, more commonly known as HPV.

What is HPV?

Human papillomavirus is the virus that is solely responsible for warts on the skin. Like many other viruses, HPV is contagious and can easily be spread from person to person; in fact, catching the virus from another person is the leading factor in a person developing warts. There is known to be 100 or more strains of the virus and different types of HPV lead to warts of various kinds. No person is immune from HPV, although children, teenagers and people that suffer from a weakened immune system (the body’s natural defense) are seen to be of a higher risk.

More information on HPV: http://wartsguide.com/category/hpv

Warts on neck that are brought about by human papillomavirus tend to be common warts, flat warts or filiform warts, fortunately both of these warts are benign and fairly straight forward to treat; however, each will need to be treated in a different way.

Common and Flat Wart Treatments

Common warts are indeed, as the name says the most common type of wart. They can be flesh colored or grayish brown and are circular or dome shaped with a cauliflower like appearance. This type of wart can affect people of all ages, and in the majority of cases are found on the hands and fingers; however, in some instances the face and neck can be affected.

Flat warts are very small and are either totally flat or very slightly raised; the color of the wart tends to be pinkish and brown, often with yellow tones. Unlike the common wart which generally appears as a single growth, flat warts will show in clusters ranging from a few to well over a hundred. Flat warts on neck tend to be found on children and teenagers and cases of adults with this type of wart are rare. Treating both common and flat warts can be done in different ways with three options available: home remedies, over-the-counter products and surgery. The option of surgery is only considered after all other natural methods have been tried to no avail.

Home remedies should be the first line of treatment; the most common of these is the duct tape treatment. This basically involves covering the wart 24/7 until it disappears. The tape should be changed on a daily basis. Many people also use potatoes or lemons cut in half and rubbed over the wart, allowing the juices to kill off the growth. Keeping immune system levels high will also help the body fight off the HPV virus, this can be done by eating healthily, exercising and drinking plenty of water.

Over-the-counter products are proven to be very successful in removing common and flat warts on neck without the need for surgery. Products such as dermatend, Compound W and Amoils H-wart are recognized as being very successful. The key ingredient in many over-the-counter products is salicylic acid. This works by dissolving keratin the protein which makes up the majority of a wart surface.

Wart removal surgery can be done in different ways. Common options include:

Laser surgery

Cryotherapy

Electrotherapy

Surgery is a good option for removing a wart, although is the most expensive and may result in scarring.

Filiform wart treatments

The filiform wart is completely different in appearance to the common and flat wart, and although they are less common generally, they are solely found on the face and neck. Filiform warts are of a flesh color and are long and stalk like in appearance, forming in small clusters. They are mostly painless although can increase in size, which causes irritation. Unlike other types of warts on neck, natural and over-the-counter treatments for filiform warts are not recommended for self-application. The best method of treatment will be to seek help from a doctor, who will decide on the correct procedure.

Topical medicines such as salicylic acid and trichloroacetic acid will often be used as the first line of treatment. These can also be used in combination with cryotherapy, which uses liquid nitrogen to freeze a wart.

Other methods that may be considered are laser surgery and immunotherapy. Laser surgery for warts on neck which uses a high-energy laser to burn a wart will guarantee success but can be painful and result in scarring. Immunotherapy involves injecting an antibody directly into the wart which causes an allergic reaction; this method can also be painful.

Seeking medical advice for filiform warts on neck will allow you to find the treatment that works best for you personally.

Nowadays, there are many products available that can be used to treat those stubborn warts and allow you to once again lead a normal life. For proven results, Wartrol may just be one of the best products on the market. This article aims to provide a Wartrol review and look at how this fast-acting removal liquid is fast becoming more and more popular in the United States.

Visit The Official Website of Wartrol

What is Wartrol?

If you are suffering from warts, then Wartrol is the perfect solution. The chances are you have already seen or heard of the product, thanks to its publicity on mainstream television networks such as Fox and CBS and internet giants such as MSNBC and CNN.com. The first part of any Wartrol review will be to look at what the product actually is.

Wartrol is a topical formula which comes in a liquid bottle and is applied directly to the wart via a brush, resulting in the growth dissolving. Like many other topical treatments, Wartrol comes recommended by doctors and dermatologists in favor of surgical procedures, which can often be painful and result in scarring, not to mention the expense involved. Wartrol is the complete opposite to surgery in all but results. Treatment is applied easily, is painless and leaves behind no scarring; it is also a very cost-effective solution and requires no prescription to purchase. The key to the success of this wart removal formula is the ingredients that go into each bottle.

Wartrol Ingredients

The second part of the Wartrol review is to look at the ingredients that allow the product to tackle almost any type of wart. There are countless over-the-counter treatments for warts, some are more successful than others, when choosing a product it is important to ensure that all ingredients are FDA approved and clinically proven to work. Some products will use FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved ingredients without the product being clinically proven, while others will claim to have proven results despite using non-FDA approved ingredients. Wartrol offers both.

Using FDA approved ingredients in a product is massively important for the patient using the formula. All drugs and medicines that have been approved by the FDA will have been done so to ensure safety, security and efficacy to all humans. This will give any user peace of mind.

Ingredients included in Wartrol are as follows:

Salicylic Acid

Ethyl Alcohol

Flexible Collodion

Menthol

Ascorbic Acid

Polysorbate-80

Hydroxypropylcellulose

The main and most active of these ingredients is salicylic acid, this is a product used in many topical wart removal formulas with proven results. Wartrol review studies have shown that the use of salicylic acid combined with other natural oils enhances the process of Keratolysis. This process involves thinning out the layers of tough skin at the site of the wart so that they can be easily shed. Shedding skin weakens the HPV virus and allows the wart to be removed naturally.

How to Apply Wartrol

When purchasing an over-the-counter product, any customer will want to ensure the formula can be applied quickly and easily, Wartrol fulfills these requirements. In fact, the whole process takes little over 18 minutes to complete. The next part of the Wartrol review is to look at the application process.

Applying Wartrol to the skin could not be easier. It is simply a case of dipping the brush (located inside the lid) into the formula, locating the wart and applying the formula. The formula should then be air dried for approximately 60 seconds; these first two stages of the process should take no longer than 75 seconds in total. The liquid is then left to work for 18-19 minutes. These three steps can be repeated three times per day until the wart has gone.

Conclusion

If you are suffering from warts of any kind, then I’m sure this Wartrol Review will have provided you with the answer to your problems, meaning wart-free skin is just a few steps away.

Warts affect many millions of people in the US and can cause pain and annoyance to sufferers leading to treatments such as wart removal surgery and over-the-counter products being required. They are brought about by an infection known as human papillomavirus (HPV) which causes a small rough growth at the affected area. There are numerous different types of wart, and they can appear on areas across the body, the most commonly seen are:

Plantar warts – found on the bottom of the foot.

Plane warts – also known as flat warts, these are common on many parts of the body.

Filiform warts – found on the face and give the appearance of a single stalk.

Periungual warts – found under finger and toenails.

Dome shaped warts are also common, regularly affecting the backs of fingers and toes and also knees. While many natural and over-the-counter products will work for some people, they will not be affective on every occasion and in some cases will fail to work at all. In this instance, the sufferer will be left with wart removal surgery as the only option.

There are a range of different surgical procedures that can be used in the removal of warts, and the option which is best for you will be made after a patient-doctor consultation. No method of surgery is seen as more effective than another for curing warts and a doctor will often recommend starting with a procedure that is least likely to leave a patient with permanent scarring.

Electrosurgery

Electrosurgery is one of the most common surgical procedures for the removal of warts, although is not suitable for all warts. This method is best used on areas affected by a single or few warts and is unsuitable for large areas of warts.

Electrosurgery involves burning the skin where the wart is located; this is done using an electric current which is applied through the tip of a needle, which works to dry and then burn the affected skin tissue. Electrosurgery is often combined with a process known as ‘curettage’.

Curettage involves the use of a scalpel or sharp spoon-shaped surgical tool to remove the wart from the skin. The use of electrosurgery and curettage together is carried out under local anesthetic and carries a high probability of scarring after treatment; this method is also prone to a recurrence of warts.

Laser surgery

The use of laser surgery in medicine has proven beneficial to many different conditions and has shown to be a successful method in the removal of warts. This procedure uses a high-intensity beam of light to burn and destroy the wart, unlike electrosurgery; it can be used to good effect on large and widespread warts.

Laser surgery can be used on all types of patient and is seen as the method of choice for wart removal surgery in pregnant women. Choosing this method will also give the patient the benefit of little of no scarring after successful surgery.

Unfortunately, despite the numerous benefits of laser surgery, there are certain disadvantages that will need to be taken into account when deciding whether or not this method is best for you. The first is the cost; laser surgery is the most expensive of all the available methods, and it also leaves the patient in pain for several days after the procedure. Depending on the size and the amount of warts to be removed, a doctor will decide whether to use general or local anesthetic.

Cryotherapy

The use of cryotherapy as a form of wart removal surgery dates back to the 1890’s. The process involves using an instrument or liquid at an extremely low temperature to freeze and destroy the wart. Modern procedures using cryotherapy will involve the use of liquid nitrogen; this is also the simplest method and is completed in a matter of minutes.

A doctor will use an applicator such as a cotton bud which is dipped into the liquid nitrogen and applied directly to the wart, at temperatures of -320˚F allows the wart to be frozen quickly and then allowed to thaw out slowly to destroy the wart to maximum effect. Cryotherapy is general carried out over a number of sessions; this will be determined by the size and amount of warts. Most warts will require around 1-4 treatments, which are separated by 1-3 weeks between each treatment.

There is generally no need for anesthesia to be used in cryotherapy, although some moderate pain may be felt. The risk of scarring from this kind of procedure will depend on the appearance of the wart, in the majority of cases no scarring will occur although in instances when a wart is thick and/or requires extensive treatment, scarring may be apparent due to the increased risk of nerve damage. Cryotherapy is one of the more expensive methods of wart removal but is also one of the quickest procedures to complete.

Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy is not as common as the other methods of wart removal surgery, although the results are often as good. This procedure relies on the body’s natural defenses, the immune system to fight off the HPV infection and clear up warts. Similar to the way a vaccine promotes the immune system and encourages it to fight off infections such as flu, immunotherapy applies the same principles. An antibody generating vaccine such as Candida antigen is injected directly into the wart and causes the immune system to produce antibodies that target HPV and use white blood cells to kill of the infection.

In terms of being a beneficial procedure, immunotherapy has been proven to be more successful in clearing warts than cryotherapy with a clearance rate of 70% compared to 42%. The treatment is quick and painless although some side effects may be felt in the 24 hours after the vaccine has been administered. Side effects include mild fever like symptoms and itching at the injection site.

Cantharidin

Cantharidin is a chemical compound that is derived from species of blister beetle; it is also successful in use in wart removal surgery. The use of cantharidin is generally administered after methods such as cryotherapy and salicylic acid have proven to be unsuccessful in the removal of a wart. The process involves a doctor painting cantharidin onto the affected wart and then covering the area with a bandage. The chemical causes the skin underneath the wart to blister, thus lifting the wart of the skin. The blister will then dry out allowing the wart to be removed by the doctor. This procedure is relatively painless although irritation may occur from the blistered area; it also has very little risk of scarring although several treatments may be needed to remove a wart. Cantharidin is not suitable for all types of patient and will not be used on anybody with any kind of circulatory problems such as diabetes. Unusual warts and warts near to the genital area will also require a treatment other than cantharidin, and the treatment should never be used in conjunction with any other chemical compound. The restriction in this kind of treatment mean that it is a rarely used method of wart removal surgery, although does prove beneficial when use is warranted.

There are numerous different types of warts, each afflicting a different part of the body. To the untrained eye, it is unclear why warts afflict certain parts of the body and not others. This is down to the human papilloma virus, or HPV. Although all are under the same name, there are many different strains of the virus, with over 120 known to currently be in existence.

The most common forms of HPV are types 1 and 3, closely followed by 2, 27 and 29. These strains are responsible for most types of wart and are generally harmless other than their physical manifestation. Other strains are equally contagious and can cause the more violent warts, such as those that lead to further illnesses.

Common Warts

Common warts are, as the name suggests, the most prevalent type of wart in humans. They are simple to identify, generally being round in shape and the same color as the skin with a hint of redness around the edges. They are usually found on the hands, specifically around the fingernail or further down the finger or on the feet and are mainly an inconvenience rather than an illness. They are generally painless and are in no way a sign of any deep lying issue in the body. However, they should be treated, even if only for cosmetic reasons. Fortunately, they are simple to treat and may even disappear on their own. The body almost always adapts its immune system to rid itself of the virus, and most active treatments serve to give the immune system a boost, speeding up the natural process.

Plantar Warts

Plantar warts are almost exclusively found on the soles of the feet. They are much smaller than the common wart and can also be much more painful due to their location. The pressure exerted on the feet when walking serves to irritate the wart, and in some cases even pushes it deeper into the skin, making for significant discomfort.

This pain is also what usually leads to identifying the wart itself, as the person with the virus will first notice the presence of a lump when walking. As with most common types of warts, a plantar wart is a growth on the skin, nothing more, and is nothing to be overly concerned about. However, treatment should be sought in order to avoid the obvious pain when pressure is exerted.

Genital Warts

Genital warts are one of the more serious manifestations of the HPV virus and are considered to be a sexually transmitted disease. Infection and contagion is in line with the spreading of warts rather than normal STDs, with skin contact enough to transfer the infection. Like most types of warts, the warts themselves are not inherently dangerous.

However, they can be more uncomfortable than other types due to their location and can lead to sores and bleeding, which can be particularly problematic when considering the potential transference of the HIV virus. As with most afflictions of the type, genital warts often disappear on their own, but can be treated in numerous ways.

Oral Warts

Oral warts can appear anywhere in the mouth or around the lips and are often characterized by being smaller than what would be considered a common wart. Otherwise, their appearance is in line with other types of warts, being dome shaped and rough to the touch. They are generally painless, but can easily be irritated due to their location. As with other types, many oral warts disappear without treatment.

However, they are medically linked to strains of HPV that are thought to cause cancer, and may be cause for additional concern. It is therefore imperative that the afflicted person seeks professional assistance if they feel that they may have oral warts.

Flat Warts

Flat warts are smaller than normal warts and are most common in teenagers. They are quite similar to common warts in that they are often skin colored. However, their small size means that identification and diagnosis can often be difficult, with such warts manifesting themselves for up to a year before they become visible. They also commonly occur in large groups as opposed to singularly, potentially making them difficult to treat.

However, they are also one of the most harmless types of warts, never being more than a potentially embarrassing aesthetic issue. They often disappear without treatment, but can be removed with medical assistance.

Filiform Warts

Filiform warts are one of the most well-known types of wart, although usually under their more common name of facial warts. They tend to manifest on the eyelids or around the lips and are often longer in shape than other types of warts. They are highly contagious, and can often be transferred through sharing face cloths or other items.

However, they are generally harmless and reasonably easy to treat, although such treatment should always be administered by a medical professional due to the sensitive nature of the skin in the most likely afflicted areas.

Periungual Warts

Periungual warts are most commonly found near nails both on the fingers and toes. They generally appear in clusters rather than alone, and are one of the smallest warts of their kind. Without irritation, they often remain so small that they cannot even be seen. The warts themselves are largely harmless, but can be annoying due to their location.

A growing wart takes no account of the nail itself and can cause the nail to be displaced, leading to additional discomfort. Therefore, treatment is often necessary as soon as a peringual wart is identified. Such treatment is carried out in the same way as other types of warts, often using laser treatment or cryotherapy.

Seed Warts

Seed warts are one of the more easily identifiable types of warts, often being black in color as opposed to the more traditional flesh color. This black hue is caused by pressure on the blood vessels around the wart itself. They are most commonly found on the hands and feet and are known as one of the more painful types of warts due to the potential for inflammation.

However, in spite of the discomfort, they are rarely a sign of any other illness and can be treated in the same way as other common warts. They are also likely to disappear on their own after a certain length of time.

Warts on Hands

The hands are one of the most common areas to be afflicted by warts, particularly due to the regularity with which they come into contact with others. Each type is caused by the HPV virus and they are mostly a visual issue. The virus causes growths on the skin that may become itchy and irritated but do not disguise any underlying issue. Most hand warts are easily treated or may disappear on their own.

The main causes for concern are when the number of warts increases rapidly or when they grow particularly fast. Even then, most cases can be treated at home with no medical intervention apart from in serious cases. Such medical involvement usually comes in the form of freezing the wart, applying a special topical cream or surgical removal.

Warts on the hands and fingers are the most common type. Warts are a manifestation of the human papilloma virus which is primarily transferred through touch, so the hands are always likely to be the most common area of affliction. Fortunately, there are a number of methods, treatments and techniques that cover how to get rid of warts on hands, ranging from natural methods and specialist products to various forms of surgery.

How to Get Rid of Warts on Fingers Naturally

When looking to remove warts on fingers, the first place someone can look is within their own home. Most warts that target hands and fingers are simply superficial, and the skin in the area is strong enough that certain abrasive techniques can be effective without causing additional damage.

One of the most popular techniques when deciding how to get rid of warts on hands is the use of duct tape. While it may bring to mind the thought of yanking the wart from the skin, it isn’t actually that physical! Instead, the sufferer simply applies a small square of duct tape to the wart and leaves it on all day.

By continuing to do this for a few days, reapplying a new square of tape daily, the wart is insulated and constantly warm. This softens the skin and the wart itself, until such a point that removing the tape removes the wart alongside it, without any discomfort. Visit the link above for more information on duct tape wart removal.

Another popular home-based technique used to remove warts on fingers is the use of tea tree oil. The oil is a favorite in medicine cabinets due to its diverse range of uses, and it can be perfect for the treatment of warts. The favored method is to dab tea tree oil on the wart using a cotton pad twice daily. The oil clears out the infection while also acting as an antiseptic to prevent further inflammation.

If neither duct tape nor tea tree oil is available when considering how to get rid of warts on fingers, then the person can simply head to the kitchen. Various natural products have healing properties that are ideal to remove warts from fingers, including apple vinegar, lime juice or alcohol. Their acidic qualities work on the skin to naturally remove the wart and are usually applied by bandaging a cotton pad that has been soaked in the chosen substance to the finger or hand. Visit our natural wart removal category to find more 100% natural ways to remove skin warts.

http://wartsguide.com/category/wart-treatment/natural-methods

How to Get Rid of Warts through Surgery

Sometimes natural remedies and the body’s own defenses are not enough to get rid of warts. Should the sufferer choose to seek medical help for a persistent problem, the doctor has a number of surgical methods at their disposal for treatment.

The most common of these is cryosurgery or cryotherapy. Liquid nitrogen is the most commonly used substance for the surgery, and may be sprayed onto the area or applied using a swab. It has the effect of cooling the skin to such an extent that the wart simply drops off. Its popularity is based on numerous factors, particularly the cost. Also, while it is referred to as surgery, it is one of the least invasive medical procedures possible and can often be carried out quickly and painlessly.

Alternatively, laser therapy may be used, particularly when thinking about how to get rid of warts on hands that are reasonably large. The laser acts as a scalpel, effectively cutting the wart off the skin, although the process is more akin to vaporization than actual cutting.

Specialist Wart Removal Products

People who wish to remove warts on fingers without resorting to surgery and who have had little success with natural remedies have a range of products to choose from to assist in removal. Most of these products are available over the counter and involve the use of salicylic acid, which encourages the breakdown of skin while also killing bacteria.

Numerous products, including Wartol, Dermatend and Dermisil are specially created for skin irritations and provide a specialist, non-invasive alternative when considering how to get rid of warts on fingers. They can almost always be used without medical direction and form a great first option for wart sufferers.

Many people get warts at some point, although only when they occur do people stop to ask “how do you get warts?” Every type of wart, no matter where they occur on the body, is caused by the human papilloma virus. As with most afflictions of this type, the virus is highly contagious and it is not always possible to avoid contraction. While the body’s immune system is often sufficient to nullify the threat, the sheer number of variations of the virus means that it will most likely lead to warts somewhere on the body.

Contracting the Virus

The human papilloma virus is highly contagious, and can be transferred in a number of ways, including direct skin contact and touching areas that a carrier has recently touched themselves. Even while not active in a person, the virus remains potent when living on other surfaces, with communal areas such as offices, schools and health centers particularly susceptible to spreading the virus simply through numerous people touching the same thing.

Some individuals are inherently immune to warts, due to their own body being particularly proficient in preventing the virus staying in the body for long enough for warts to develop. However, these people form a minority, so it is important to remain wary, particularly when the person knows that someone they come into regular contact with has warts.

Avoiding Warts

Various precautions can be made to avoid getting warts. Obviously, with someone particularly close such as a family member, it is likely that others will be aware that they have warts, either through them seeking treatment or advising as such to allow others to avoid contact. When this is the case, avoidance is a case of not sharing anything that may come in to contact with the afflicted area such as clothing. Any form of direct touch should also be avoided and all shared surfaces, such as those in a kitchen or bathroom should be cleaned thoroughly after use. While doing all of these things at the same time can be inconvenient, it is definitely worthwhile on a short-term basis until the person with warts can seek treatment and cure the virus.

In public areas it can be less simple. Some consider warts to be an embarrassing problem, and are unlikely to share it with others. If the warts are visible, then it goes without saying that they should not be touched directly with the hands or any other part of the body. In areas such as swimming pools, people should always attempt to provide their own equipment, including footwear and bathing products. While many pools provide such equipment for the convenience of their customers, there is an obvious possibility that someone with warts may have used the equipment previously, and there is no guarantee that it has since been cleaned effectively.

In answering the question “how do I get warts?” the simple response is that any direct or indirect contact with a carrier can cause warts. However, suitable precautions can be taken at all times to minimize the chance of infection and much of it is down to common sense. As long as people remain aware at all times and actively avoid the most likely cause, the risk of infection decreases massively.

The human papilloma virus, or HPV, is literally one of the most widespread medical infections in the world, being both easily transmitted and incurable. Fortunately, it is also one of the least potent viruses, usually only affecting the skin. In some cases the virus has been linked to cancer, although this is a particularly extreme and unusual occurrence.

How do you get HPV?

HPV is one of the most easily contracted viruses in medicine, requiring only skin contact to allow passing of the virus from person to person. The contact does not even have to be skin to skin, as the virus can remain active on numerous surfaces without detection before moving on to another individual.

HPV Between People

HPV is most commonly passed around by direct skin contact. The most likely opportunity for transmission is when someone directly touches the afflicted area, so it is essential that any direct contact is avoided. Various strains of HPV appear on different parts of the body, with the hands being one of the most common areas for wart outbreaks, simply due to them being the most likely body part to come into contact with a carrier. However, transmission is just as likely anywhere on the body, with genital warts particularly likely to be transferred through sexual contact.

Similarly, genital warts can be transmitted through any form of contact, including oral sex. They can then manifest themselves as oral warts or one of any number of different types. Should it be necessary to touch the afflicted area, protection such as rubber gloves is highly advised. In the case of genital warts, the most common protection is a condom. However, even this is not completely safe, as a condom is unlikely to cover the entire afflicted area.

How do You get HPV Other than From Skin Contact?

The HPV virus does not simply live on skin. Any afflicted area that comes into contact with another surface can transfer the virus, where it remains until picked up by someone else. This can include on towels and other shared items, plus solid objects. Virtually any surface can harbor the virus, so anything from sharing a desk to going to the swimming pool can potentially cause warts.

Unlike some types of virus, it is unlikely for a person to contract HPV over the air. Some form of contact, either directly or indirectly, is often required for the virus to transfer itself from a host. It is impossible to completely protect oneself against contracting the virus due to the huge number of potential sources. Virtually anything that can be touched that isn’t regularly disinfected may have been in contact with the virus, making it possible for the virus to spread.

Overall, the answer to “how do you get HPV?” is simply by touch, either of people or objects. The main source of contagion is through directly touching an affected area, so this should be avoided at all costs. Other sources are less obvious, but general wariness and common sense is often sufficient to avoid the virus.

Genital warts are unfortunately one of the most common types of warts, and are particularly embarrassing. The first question on anyone’s mind when they identify genital warts is “can genital warts be cured?” The answer is yes and no, but fortunately the actual physical manifestation can be removed in a number of ways. The underlying human papilloma virus is incurable, but the warts themselves can be treated in a number of ways.

Aside from the obvious embarrassment that goes alongside genital warts, they can also be tricky to deal with due to their location. They primarily appear near the anus or around the most sensitive areas of the genitalia. This makes many common methods of removal impossible due to the fragile nature of the skin or the uneven nature of the skin in those areas. The duct tape method, for example, is a favorite for home-made warts removal, but is in no way appropriate for the genital and anal regions.

Treating Genital Warts

Genital warts are usually no more dangerous than any other type of wart, and can often disappear on their own when the body’s immune system adjusts itself to cure them naturally. However, this is not always the case. The nature of the afflicted area means that the most common treatments are in the form of gels or creams.

The first option used by many doctors is podofilox. It is a relatively cheap substance and is highly effective at removing warts on its own. It is also popular because the patient can take it away and apply it themselves, usually twice a day. However, the fact that it works by effectively eroding the wart means that it can often be somewhat uncomfortable on the surrounding skin areas.

Alternatively, a doctor may prescribe imiquimod, a slightly more potent substance that can also be administered by the patient. Rather than directly ‘wearing down’ the warts, it works by enhancing the body’s own immune system, prompting it into action. It is highly effective, but the fact that it is forcing change in the body means that side-effects are common, with flu symptoms being among the most regular.

Various other substances have similar effects. Many of the most used treatments are used for a variety of skin inflammations and work in different ways. An example of this is Veregen, which again must be prescribed and causes less additional inflammation of the treated area. However, it is often left as a last resort as the removal process is much slower than with either podofilox or imiquimod.

Treating Genital Warts with Surgery

Alongside medical substances, it is also possible to use some traditional surgical procedures for wart removal on cases of genital warts, although they are often used after attempting substance treatment due to the nature of the area. Both cryosurgery and laser surgery have been used successfully, but are not considered to be the primary method of the treatment of genital warts due to the chances of scarring or recurrence.

Can genital warts be cured? They can be treated and removed, and in some patients they will never return. However, the underlying HPV virus remains, meaning that any patient has a chance of them returning. Fortunately, many proven, non-surgical methods are available for the management and cure of the physical warts.

One of the most common methods of wart removal is cryosurgery. It is the name given to various procedures that involve freezing warts, effectively killing the skin cells in the wart itself, causing it to literally drop off. It is non-invasive surgery and most doctors and nurses are trained in carrying out various types of wart removal freeze techniques.

Wart Freeze with Liquid Nitrogen

Liquid nitrogen is the most common agent used for in wart removal freeze techniques due to a combination of low cost and high levels of effectiveness. The liquid is put in a special device known as a cryogun, and then sprayed directly on to the afflicted area. The freeze effect is instant, causing ice to form within the cells that make up the wart. However, the actual process of removing the wart itself is not necessarily instantaneous as the area of effect must be concentrated. This means that most wart removal freeze therapies are administered over the course of several sessions, progressively removing more and more of the wart.

Other Substances used in Wart Freeze Therapy

While liquid nitrogen is by far the most common substance used in cryosurgery, some medical professionals choose to use carbon dioxide or argon. Carbon dioxide is far less common but still used, and works by forming a slushy substance that can be directly applied to the afflicted area.

Argon is a more recent addition to wart freeze surgery. It works by freezing the argon by forcing it through a valve in the canister. The nature of the substance means that it gives the doctor unprecedented control over the application process. However, the cost can be prohibitively expensive, making it far less common than both liquid nitrogen and carbon dioxide treatments.

What to Expect from Cryosurgery Treatments

Cryosurgery is a viable solution for many sufferers of any types of warts. The process of freezing warts is often quick and almost painless. Many doctors choose to administer the therapy over the course of several sessions, allowing the skin around the wart to recover before continuing treatment. All methods involve some form of effect on the surrounding area, meaning that the same process that kills the cells in the wart can affect normal skin.

General side effects of wart removal freeze techniques include largely minor pain in the other skin areas affected. However, the pain is easily managed through conventional means, such as ibuprofen or paracetamol. Some patients may also notice blisters, but they are of little cause for concern and disappear after a few days.

Cryosurgery is known to be highly effective, as skin always reacts in the same way to being frozen. For many sufferers, the slight discomfort in surrounding areas is a small price to pay for virtually guaranteed wart removal. Depending upon the number of sessions required it can also be one of the quickest means of recovery. Some patients, particularly with smaller growths, rid themselves of the wart after the first session, eliminating the need for further treatment.

While the name may be unfamiliar, filiform warts are simply warts on the face and are one of the most common types of warts. They generally focus on the eyelids and lips, and can also spread to the neck area if not identified and treated quickly. They are easily identified, as in addition to the localized area of affliction, they also look somewhat different to warts found on other areas of the body. Rather than appearing as small raised areas of skin, they actually appear to be something protruding from under the skin itself.

Contracting Filiform Warts

Filiform warts are highly contagious. In spite of their slightly different appearance to normal warts, they are caused by the same virus which is easily transferred from person to person. The virus easily spreads from the carrier to others simply through skin to skin contact, and can also lie dormant on certain items that are used on the face of multiple people, including towels and various cloths. People with damaged skin are particularly susceptible to contracting the virus as it eases entry into the body.

Facial warts can be particularly problematic. Many people choose to ignore warts on other parts of the body. However, filiform warts are clearly visible to the naked eye virtually as soon as the virus is contracted. They are also highly likely to spread to other parts of the face, either as a result of scratching or washing. Warts on the face are therefore treated sooner rather than later simply due to them directly affecting a person’s appearance.

Avoiding Warts on the Face

It can be difficult to identify every potential source of facial warts. The virus itself is clearly visible on an afflicted person, but it can also live in numerous public places, including communal shower rooms and swimming pools. Therefore, much of the possibility of catching the virus is simply down to chance. However, when a friend or family member clearly has the virus, identified by the obvious warts on the face, there are certain precautions that can be taken to limit the spread of the virus.

While filiform warts are present, both the person with the virus and anyone who may share items such as towels and cloths should take care not to do so. Separate items should be used for the duration of the problem. If at all possible, they should also attempt to avoid sharing showers and sinks, as it is highly likely that some part of the virus is present on the surface. It is also imperative that no direct skin contact is made, whether with the hands, face or any other part of the body. The likelihood of transference is incredibly high.

Treating Filiform Warts

While certain lifestyle changes must be made when someone has contracted facial warts, the best method of avoiding contagion is to treat them as soon as possible. In spite of their appearance, warts on the face are easily treated and cause no long-term damage. There are many ways to treat warts.

The use of duct tape to treat warts is a highly popular method promoted by many resources as a natural wart remover. It is thought to be particularly effective for the removal of plantar warts, usually found on the soles of the feet. However, the plantar wart duct tape removal technique is not necessarily as effective as originally thought.

The theory behind plantar wart removal with duct tape is based on the tape creating a warm, moist environment around the wart itself. This softens and dries the skin, causing the wart to shrink and ultimately drop off naturally. The method itself involves applying a small square of duct tape to the afflicted area and changing it daily for hygiene reasons. After a few days the individual should begin to see results.

The duct tape also has the added effect of providing cushioning on the sole of the foot. Plantar warts are notoriously uncomfortable as they tend to appear on the pressure points on the soles of the feet. This means that they are constantly being trodden on, often forcing them up into the skin.

Study into the Effects of Duct Tape

Numerous studies have taken place analyzing the success of the plantar wart duct tape method. Such studies usually take the form of one group of patients using duct tape, while the other acts as a control group allowing the wart to disappear naturally.

These studies almost unanimously conclude that the duct tape has little effect on the disappearance of warts. ( see resources below ) In most cases, patients in both the test and control groups saw their warts shrink or disappear completely within a similar timeframe. This is not unusual. The symptoms of many viral infections, warts included, often disappear over time as the body adapts its immune system to cope with the intrusion without external assistance.

The most common conclusion from studies is that plantar wart removal with duct tape does have some effect, but it is so small as to be non-significant.

Side Effects of the Plantar Wart Duct Tape Method

Any small improvement in the recovery time from warts offered by duct tape is often completely negated by potential side effects. Obviously, duct tape was not created or marketed as a method of recovery from skin problems and various aspects of the tape can cause additional problems, including erythema and eczema. Such problems are normally only found in a small number of patients, but the possibilities need to be considered when turning to the plantar wart removal with duct tape method.

Overall, the effects of using duct tape to aid in the recovery from warts may be more popular than is deserved. The cushioning aspect, protecting the area from excessive pressure, can be replicated by a plaster or insole. Other potentially home-made methods are also thought to be more effective, including the use of vinegar or citrus juice. Ideally, the sufferer will be able to consult their doctor for a more specialized treatment, such as one of a number of purpose-made products or, in worse cases, cryosurgery.

Apple cider vinegar is known to be one of the best home-made remedies for the removal of warts, and also serves to be one of the most effective without seeking medical advice. Numerous user experiences bear testament to the success of apple cider vinegar as a realistic alternative to over the counter and prescription medicines.

Using Apple Cider Vinegar on Warts

The process of treating warts with apple cider vinegar is highly simplistic. The individual just needs:

The vinegar

Band-Aid

A cotton ball

The cotton ball is soaked in the vinegar and then applied directly to the wart. It is then held in place with the Band-Aid and usually left overnight, or in some cases for the following 24 hours. This is largely down to personal preference, although the entire dressing should be changed regularly for other hygiene reasons, plus the diminishing effects of the vinegar itself over long periods.

The wart begins to react with the vinegar almost immediately. The user will notice a change straight away as the area tingles or throbs. The wart will probably start to shrink or disappear within a couple of days, although most guides suggest that the process is repeated daily for a week to prevent the wart from returning. Some sufferers even choose to cut the wart off when it has gone completely black. There is nothing wrong with doing this, as the skin is effectively dead and no pain will be felt when it is removed.

Patients should be aware that by using apple cider vinegar for wart removal they are effectively killing the wart with acid, and the solution is likely to affect other parts of the skin around the wart itself. This can lead to some discomfort, ranging from nothing at all to a strong burning sensation. If this occurs, the treatment can be combined with any over the counter pain killers, soothing the pain while the vinegar works its magic.

Creating the Perfect Formula

Apple cider vinegar has many uses in the world of health and so is commonly found in many stores. It is used for various types of remedy, including weight loss, cholesterol reduction and to assist blood sugar regulation in people with diabetes. The range of uses means that it is normally sold unfiltered and unpasteurized, leaving it up to the user to decide how to make use of its properties.

In terms of using apple cider vinegar for wart removal, the vinegar on its own can often be slightly too abrasive on the skin. As mentioned, some people experience a burning sensation on the skin around the wart and this can occur even when the solution is diluted. For best results, it is recommended that the user mixes one part apple cider vinegar with three parts water. This serves to make the acidic effects slightly less potent, without reducing the chances of successful removal of the wart itself. The actual recipe for treatment follows the aforementioned pattern of soaking the cotton ball in the new solution and then holding it in place with the band aid. Most users of the method report seeing results in as little as two days. This is quicker than some commercial products.

Anyone who suffers from warts and other skin blemishes knows how unsightly and embarrassing they can be. Unfortunately, warts can be very persistent for many people, lasting for weeks or months at a time. Doing an Internet search for an effective wart remover lists dozens of ways to get rid of them. But what works best? We’ll endeavor to answer that question throughout the course of this article. But just to get started it’s important to explain that most wart removal therapies fall into one of three categories:

natural remedies

surgical procedures

commercial wart removal products

Natural Remedies

When we say natural remedies we are talking about procedures you try at home using natural substances. For example, one of the most common natural remedies for a wart removal is to apply apple cider vinegar to the surface of the skin on a daily basis. Another common natural remedy involves covering the wart with a piece of fresh banana peel at night before bed. Both of these natural remedies have one thing in common: certain organic compounds within the substances that acts as a wart remover to break down the tissue.

While some natural remedies have been known to work, the biggest problem in using them is that they don’t work for everyone. Many wart suffers try two or three natural remedies and end up being frustrated when none of them proves effective. The result is often that the sufferer simply gives up trying.

Surgical Procedures

There are several wart removal therapies that fall under this category including laser removal, freezing, and burning. Of these three methods the laser is probably the safest and least invasive. However, all surgical procedures do carry certain risks. The first risk involves the formation of scar tissue where the wart used to be; scar tissue that can be more unsightly than the wart itself. The other risk, and of greater concern, is that of infection.

Commercial Wart Removers

Wart removal products that you find online or at the pharmacy are usually your best bet for wart removal. You can purchase these products as either chemical recipes or natural recipes. Regardless, the companies that manufacture such products go to great lengths to test them, in order to ensure they work. Though not every commercial product works for every individual you generally see better results than you do when trying natural home remedies.

As you’re shopping around for a commercial wart remover be sure to know exactly what’s in them. Nothing is worse than getting a product home only to find out that you don’t appreciate some of its ingredients. If you prefer non-chemical products they are available in abundance across the Internet or at local pharmacies and grocery stores. One of the best wart removers available nowadays is Dermatend. This product is based on natural ingredients and thus it does not have side effects and will not leave scars on your skin. (Read more…)

If you do have warts rest assured that it is possible to get rid of them. With a little diligence, investigation, and willingness to try different products, you’ll eventually find something that works for you. So hang in there and keep looking.
